Role Overview:
The Canary Data Historian Engineer will be responsible for implementing, configuring, and maintaining Canary Labs’ data historian software for our clients. This role involves designing data collection strategies, optimising storage solutions, and ensuring seamless integration with existing systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial data systems, a passion for innovation, and a commitment to delivering exceptional results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and configure Canary Data Historian solutions tailored to client requirements.
- Design and manage data collection strategies for time-series data across various industrial processes.
- Integrate Canary Labs’ software with SCADA, DCS, PLCs, and other industrial control systems.
- Monitor and optimise historian performance to ensure efficient storage and retrieval of data.
- Develop and deliver customised dashboards, reports, and analytics to meet client needs.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for Canary-based systems.
- Collaborate with clients to identify opportunities for leveraging historian data to enhance decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with cybersecurity and data integrity standards.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience working with Canary Labs Data Historian software.
- Strong understanding of industrial control systems (SCADA, DCS, PLCs) and data communication protocols (OPC, MQTT, Modbus, etc.).
- Expertise in time-series data management and analysis.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, or other relevant programming languages for data manipulation and integration.
- Experience with data visualisation tools such as Power BI or similar.
- Familiarity with industrial IoT (IIoT) concepts and practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or within a team.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for client interactions and documentation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with other data historian platforms (e.g., AVEVA PI, Ignition).
- Knowledge of data security best practices for industrial systems.
